Consistency is Key

In anything, whether it is writing a book or blogging, the key to success is consistency. You must have a plan to put in the work on a daily basis if you are going to see any kind of success. Skipping a day may be okay, but skipping several can completely derail your accomplishments. If you are writing a book, missing multiple writing sessions could mean missing important deadlines. With blogging, missing writing sessions allows the competition to take away your spot.

Recently, I have moved and had a serious health issue that placed me in the hospital. Moving shifted me out of my writing groove. I spent my Saturdays pre-move writing and having posts and articles scheduled. Since the move, I have barely had time to sit down and finish one article or post, much less have enough to schedule out two weeks worth. The result: Google ranking has declined and page views are down 83%. I’ve seen this with all of my websites. It isn’t a good thing.

My goal for February is to be more consistent with my schedule. I decided to try a new system for managing my time and divided my tasks up so that I didn’t feel overwhelmed when it came time to focus on a certain website, task, or project. This will be my first week at attempting to stick to the schedule for a week. Prior to this, it was difficult to determine what important tasks I needed to work on, and at times, I would find myself with task overload. This did not fit well with my brain. Too much means I feel overwhelmed and the brain shuts down completely. Now I just delegate those too many tasks into categories and complete the important things first, and then move to the next, etc. I’ll definitely have to share how I set up my Happy Planner to keep track of all of this, but that will be a post for next week.
