Normally, at this time, I would be teaching my 6th period English I class. But not today. Today I am riding out the wind and the rain of Hurricane Hermine. Or is it Tropical Storm Hermine, by now?
Either way, I can hear the wind gusts and the slap of the rain on the side of the house, and I realize that I have a whole day to either plan, write, or grade.
I think I’d much rather write on this rainy Friday while I sip on hot coffee. We were unexpectedly given a 4 day weekend due to the storm. I can see that the dirt road below my house is already soggy, and it has begun to form ruts, so I think I’ll stay inside where it is dry and write.
